'L’église, Chamonix' is inspired by a photo I took of a church in the town square. I used pages from an old encyclopedia as the background for the work. The discoloration of the pages are a reference to this being an historical building. The paper also adds texture to an otherwise stripped-down work. The piece focuses on color and form, producing a solemn and quiet mood, reflective of a church.
