Beacon's Light
Living on the water, watching the incredible kaleidoscope of colors from Sunrise to Sunset is a wonder. It never gets old, and I have to pinch myself how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful place.
I start a painting by finding my color pallet, mixing, trying out new combinations. I sometimes refer to my color book I have put together of my favorite combos.
Layers is most important to me, building a patina to work with. Beacon Light is a combination of Acrylic paints and inks. Each give me the fluidity, so I can freely move color around the canvas.
I use many different objects to scan away layers. In this piece I was able to utilize the many layers of paint that had edges to them, and was able to get a crackled look by the scraping.
