The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. honors the nearly 60,000 service people killed in that war. Designed by architect Maya Lin, the memorial wall attracts nearly 5 million visitors each year, most of whom walk briskly past the names of those killed. This photograph attempts to capture the fading memory of those lost to time and to our society's declining attention spans and seeming inability to learn from history.
