This is one of a series of 4 paintings of the Rice Paper Butterfly "Idea blanchardii".

To create this series I built 200 8" paper models. These were arranged and posed into a diorama and lit for the best shadows. I then photographed them and rearranged them for each painting layout.

Metallic effects allow the paintings to change as the lighting changes
