Torn Paper Corduroy Mountains
Working with a set of my photo images of corduroy (also known as groomed snow), combining, tearing, and placing each piece just so, together they paint a landscape of powerful mountains reaching toward the sky. Each corduroy image acts as a planal reference to give this 2D work its 3D effect and elements of movement. The images are pigment printed with archival inks on cotton rag, torn and layered for effect and finally mounted on mat board. Tops of mountains are intentionally left unglued, casting a shadow for each layer. The Peaks of the mountains are intentionally left unglued, casting a shadow for each layer. Framed in a white wood shadowbox frame with UV anti-glare museum glass.
