Tim Nighswander's career in photography began in college and has led
him from photojournalism and commercial photography to his current
status as a sought after photographer in the highly specialized field
of documenting fine art. As an outgrowth of a comprehensive project
to digitally preserve of the collection of The Josef and Anni Albers
Foundation he, along with his wife Diane, founded Imaging4Art to be
dedicated solely to providing high resolution digital photography for
foundations, institutions, galleries, collectors and individual
artists.
Since its establishment in 2008 Imaging4Art has photographed the
artwork in major collections such as the Barnes Foundation, Glenstone
and the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. In addition, museums including MoMA,
the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Art Institute of Chicago and
the Hammer Museum have called on him to photograph works for special
exhibitions. As a significant contributor to nearly 100 art books and
catalogues plus countless newspaper, journal and magazine articles
his images have been widely viewed by the general public and in the
global art world (visit Imaging4Art.com for
further details). Working with major New York galleries as well as
private collectors and individual artists has given him unprecedented
behind-the-scenes access to paintings, drawings, photographs and
sculpture by many of the world's greatest artists – from
Renaissance masters to today's living legends - and the chance to
work beside and learn from some of the art world's top curators, art
historians, conservators and collectors.
Exposure to this art and body of knowledge has given Tim greater
understanding of themes and through lines that have been a consistent
part of his personal imagery and have coalesced into new avenues to
explore. As a photographer whose business has been dedicated to the
work of others it is only recently that he has begun to actively
pursue showing personal images to the broader public through virtual
and in-person exhibitions, gallery shows and social media
