Pequot Library in Southport, Connecticut is pleased to announce a call for submissions to its 23rd Annual Juried Art Show. The juried exhibition will be on view for the public from October 13 to October 24, 2023 in Pequot Library's historic auditorium, which provides an outstanding backdrop for the show. A Preview Party will allow first access to the works on Thursday, October 12 as a ticketed fundraiser event. Submissions must be received by September 22, 2023 in order to be considered for entrance. Please note: all works must be for sale.
About the Art Show
The Pequot Library Juried Art Show 2023 is an important fundraiser for the library that aims to recognize the talents of emerging and established artists in the region. The juried exhibition will be on view from October 13 - October 24, 2023 in the Library’s iconic auditorium. The Library is proud to continue this twenty plus year tradition, which helps support the library’s operations and celebrates artists today.

To accomplish its mission, Pequot Library collects, preserves, and makes accessible a collection of rare books, manuscripts, and archives; provides public library services; presents engaging programs about history, literature, and the arts; curates Special Collections exhibitions; and organizes community-wide gatherings in a historic setting.

Guidelines
All two-dimensional work must be framed and ready to hang, including all hanging wire and hooks. Works without necessary hanging hardware will not be accepted.
Two-dimensional works must not exceed 60 inches in any direction.
Three-dimensional works must have an appropriate pedestal. Three-dimensional works must not weigh more than 75lbs.
Any works that require assembly must have written instructions.
There is a maximum of three works per artist submission. Files must be formatted as .jpg, or .png.
A maximum of one work by each artist may be selected by the jurors.
By submitting a work to the Art Show, you are confirming that it is original artwork created by you and not generated by Artificial Intelligence.
Important Dates
Deadlines: Works must be submitted online by midnight on Friday, September 22. (Late entries will not be accepted. No exceptions.)
Artist Notification: Artists will be notified by October 1.
Delivery dates and times: Works being delivered in person must be dropped off at Pequot Library on Friday, October 6 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Works that are being shipped must arrive by October 6 as well.
Opening preview party and reception fundraiser: Thursday, October 12, 2023, 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Exhibiting artists will be able to purchase discounted ticket.
Exhibition Dates: Friday, October 13 through Tuesday, October 24 during Library hours
Closing reception: Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Party from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m; work to be collected from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
All works prepaid with shipping will be returned to the artist between October 26 and October 31.
Works not retrieved by November 30 will be disposed of by the Library.

Eligibility
Submissions must be received on time using artcall.org. This call is open to all visual artists (18 and over) in New England, Pennsylvania, and the tri-state area. Original works (in all media) submitted must have been created in the last three years and not be AI generated. All works must be available for sale.
Submission Fee
The submission fee for each work is $25. Please pay via credit card via ArtCall.org to submit your works.

Sales and Proceeds
All works must be for sale. The library and the artist split the total sale cost, 50%.
Delivery and Shipment
Only selected artwork should be delivered to the Library. Deadlines for delivery or receipt of works are non-negotiable.
Please deliver works only during set delivery day and times.
All works must be labeled with the name of the artist, title, medium, dimensions, date, and artist contact information, including a best telephone number.
Shipped artwork must be delivered with the packing materials necessary to return the work. Please assume full responsibility for the cost to ship and return the work.
Liability and Agreement
Insurance coverage is the responsibility of the artist. Pequot Library assumes no liability for loss or damage to any juried works for any reason during shipment, display, and return shipment.
Your submission to the Pequot Library Juried Art Show constitutes your agreement to these guidelines, deadlines, and all other terms and conditions.
Pequot Library reserves the right to reproduce images for educational and promotional purposes only.
